Overview[]

The United Vaulia Party (colloquially known as the ‘Diet-Commies’) is the most left leaning of the political parties in the Serene Republic. It has its roots in the various trade union movements across Vauleyo-Buryatia who sought to find a party that could represent their views, concerns and positions in the aftermath of the demise of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). The United Vaulia movement, then a small group, was propelled from the shadows into the spotlight as it gained more and more support among the working class particularly in rural areas of the country. The party considers its political ideology as having three main planks. The first is a strict adherence to Zhukovism (the ideology of the founding President of the former Vaule), which calls for a strong, yet accountable government which draws its support from the people of the country and seeks to involve them in the political process. The second plank is the principle of Democratic Socialism or the belief that the nation’s social and economic ills can be rectified by the introduction of Socialism and Democracy. The third plank involves Social Centrism and a clear separation of the secular state from religious bodies and organizations.

The leader of the United Vaulia Party, Adam Kerbev is a relative unknown. He was born in Severnagrad, East Ingushetia to well off parents. Not much is known about his upbringing or his educational background. It is believed that he was a member of the militant Vaulian National Army (VNA), however he has vehemently denied this. It is known that Kerbev served in the Vauleyo-Buryatian People’s Air Force where he rose to the rank of Colonel. Many people see Adam Kerbev as an untested leader who has little experience under the political spotlight, others suggest that his lack of experience is a good thing as it means that he is not a ‘career politician’.
