Chamber of Senators of the Serene Republic (Parliamen do Senedd)[]

The Chamber of Senators (commonly referred to as the Senate) is the upper house of Parliament. It consists of 100 Senators who serve six year terms in office. Unlike the lower house, only 50 Senators are directly elected by the people. The Imperator shall appoint 25 Senators, and the remaining 25 Senators shall be appointed by the Prime Minister of the Serene Republic with the approval of the Chamber of People’s Deputies.

The Senate holds all legislative powers that have not been expressly vested in the Chamber of People’s Deputies. Accordingly all laws or resolutions, with the exception of the National Budget, must be approved by both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies before they can be sent to the Imperator for final approval. The Senate has the sole authority to create and to devolve legislative power to other state bodies such as Regional Parliaments, and to modify the constitutional status of any province, oblast, special region or autonomous community in the Serene Republic.

The Senate is led by the President of the Senate (Presidenskaya do Senedd) who is appointed by a majority vote of the Senate. The Senate President must be an elected Senator at the time of his/her appointment and must be a natural born citizen of the Serene Republic who has not acquired any other citizenship.
