Chamber of People’s Deputies (Parliamen da Narodnay Deputativa)[]

The Chamber of People’s Deputies (commonly referred to as the Parliament) is the lower house of the Parliament. It consists of 651 Members of Parliament (MPs) who are directly elected by the public to serve four year terms in office. The political party (or in some cases political parties) who command the majority in the Chamber shall appoint from their number an individual to serve as Prime Minister of the Serene Republic. The majority party shall also select individuals to serve as government ministers with the approval of the Chamber of People’s Deputies.

The Chamber of People’s Deputies shall be chaired by the Speaker of Parliament who is appointed for a four year term by Royal Decree. The Speaker shall oversee the day to day agenda of the Chamber of Deputies and shall enforce the Parliamentary rules of Conduct and Procedure (2010). It is not required that the Speaker is a member of a political party, and the Speaker shall not be permitted to vote on legislation brought before the Chamber of People’s Deputies.

The Chamber of People’s Deputies shall serve a four year term unless it is dissolved early by Royal Decree. The Members of the Chamber of People’s Deputies must hold citizenship of the Serene Republic and must have resided in Vaule for at least 10 years prior to their election to the Chamber.
